
US has implemented an idea based on satellite technology to provide peace of mind to parents who worry about their children until they get back home. GPS personal locator designed around a wristwatch was developed by Silicon Valley company implementing the new technology behind the said idea.
Using the internet, the GPS Personal Locator lets parents to observe the exact position of their children just in minutes. In ‘Go Digital’, a BBC programme, the president of Wherify, Timothy Neher exclaimed, if your 7 year old boy who walks alone to school, fell in danger, they could just press one button on the watch and lock the device. Within 60 seconds or even less, the consumer can locate exactly where the device is. The built in pager and the panic button alerts the police regarding the danger later using the satellite technology the place of danger is found.
The new device has been aimed for children between age group of 4 to 12, who think it to be a cool watch. The device has gained a warm welcome among parents as it lets them to keep track of their children 24 hours a day using aerial maps or telephoning Wherify’s location centre. According to the official statistics, it been reported that in US a child keep missing for every 42 seconds and that the device has come out as a solution to this series issue.
The demanding technology does not come cheap. The GPS Personal Locator for Children by Wherify has been priced US$399.99. In addition demands a monthly charge of $25. The service is currently available only in US and is said to be soon developed in UK.

Earlier, the GPS devices were huge and tumid but today, it is available at all possible smallest models. More the technology shrink in size, more advanced is their power as well as cost.
