Last November, we reported the launch of Garmin EcoRoute ESP module, an accessory to diagnose the car. Now, at the recent CES 2010, Garmin revealed more details of the same. It has come out with a new name Garmin EcoRoute HD System.
Garmin EcoRoute HD module is designed for those who need to know what goes inside the engine of the vehicle it has attached with. It comes with two parts-a wireless On-Board Diagnostic-II port (OBD-II port) dongle and an ecoRoute firmware. The ecoRoute firmware is available on Garmin nuvi 1370, 1260, 1490, 1690 and 1390.
This easy-to-install device can be simply plugged into the vehicle’s OBD-II port. Once connected, Garmin EcoRoute HD will transfer the diagnostic and performance data to a compatible Garmin nuvi sat nav via a bluetooth connection. Using the transferred information, the ecoRoute software in your satellite navigation device will calculate the fuel economy and the driving habits more accurately. The data can be viewed on the screen of your GPS navigation system.
The drivers can also receive information on intake air temperature, coolant temperature, engine load, pressure, airflow, battery and emissions. He can track the engine trouble without visiting to a dealer. In short, Garmin EcoRoute HD device further enhances the Garmin ecoRoute software that helps the drivers to conserve money and fuel. It is expected to be in the market in March 2010, with a suggested price of $149.99. So, what more? Garmin users, Grab one and save more fuel!
