Garmin, the global leader in satellite navigation has come out with the new GPSMAP 700 series, the first stand alone marine chart plotter with touch screen control. The touch screen sat nav bridges the gap between entry level boat man and luxury customers. The sat nav is been pre loaded with detail of shore maps of coastal areas of US that also includes Alaska, Hawaii and explorer charts. Garmin’s 720 series has also got the same features loaded to it and is designed to to sold outside US. The combo models viz GPSMAP 740 and GPSMAP 720 includes sonar capability of 1kW and features a sonar transceiver, with which you can target fishes and objects down over 2,000 feet so that you know what’s happening under world.
To target scanning on your chart plotter screen, all the Garmin GPSMAP 700 series satellite navigation system features a standard radar port that allows you to connect with any of Garmin GMR series marine radar. High definition targeting, power, range and plug and play installation lets you add radar at you convenience, are the added advantage offered by Garmin. All the above mentioned units are non network radar capabilities to be offered for the first time in the marine product line of Garmin. As an add on, the new units features full NMEA 2000 connectivity that lets you monitor weather, engine, autopilot, fuel and other data on the chart plotter.
To fit with today’s modern boat, the sat nav features an elegantly designed touchscreen sporting super bright 7 inch screen for day time readability and fantastic low level dimming for perfect night vision. The built in GPS receiver is highly sensitive that it provides exact information for navigation, also its small footprint fits perfectly onboard where other units cannot. To make the marine sat nav even more superior, mariners can fit the GPS plotter with BlueChart g2 Vision SD card to navigate clearly with moving map in respect to the boat’s position. The Auto Guidance option of the BlueChart suggests the mariners the best route to be followed.
