I have a Garmin 1340T. It works great for in-car mode but the pedestian mode is rubbish. All it does is ‘allow’ you to go down some, but not all, no entires. It has no knowledge of footpaths and does not automatically scroll the map as you walk. Basically it’s useless, except to keep in your pocket and switch it on if you are completely lost.
Worse still is the cityXplorer software which I paid extra for. This does know about the underground and DLR trains, but it does not have any details of national rail trains which run in london or the buses. So you can be standing next to a national rail station, or a bus stop, and it will direct you miles out of your way to the nearest DLR or underground station. So this software is about as useful a chocolate teapot.
