The Garmin Nuvi 295W seems not more like a regular Garmin Nuvi, it has got few new smart phone features rather, like 3 mega pixel camera, Wi-Fi Connectivity and more. Speaking about the design, Nuvi 295W boasts quiet impressive black feather touch finish. Measuring about 4.4 inches tall, 0.5 inches thick and 2.3 inches wide, and holding 3.5 inch touch screen, the new Garmin Nuvi 295W makes the screen visible even when exposed to direct sunlight. The touch screen supports more than 65000 colors with a resolution of 272×480 pixel giving users good brightness for the in car navigation.
The power/lock button and the headphone jack are placed on the top edge of the unit, while the volume adjustments and camera buttons get trimmed along one side. Mini USB port, micro SD card slot and car dock connection point can be found on the opposite side of the unit. The back panel contains 3MP digital camera without flash and a removable 1200mAh lithium ion battery.
Breeze UI is the interface being used by Garmin Nuvi 295W with an apparent of the system’s functionality. The screen is divided into two parts with about 2/3 rd occupied by two larger circular icons for viewing maps and selecting destinations. The bottom line displays a scrolling list of icons viz music player, web browser, camera and email.
The restricting screen do not allow multitouch gesturing like pinch to zoom hence zooming of the maps should be done only via buttons. The landscape and portrait orientation, makes the gadget best for both hand held as well as in car navigation. Even the onscreen keyboard fits according to the orientations. A dedicated auto complete option gives user a list of suggestions for quick inputting.
In general, the Garmin Nuvi 295W is a strong straightforward GPS navigator rendering crispy map data and quick routing.
