Navman
In 2004, the company was purchased by Brunswick Corporation. After three years, MiTAC signed an agreement with Brunswick Corporation which entitled the former with rights to produce PND (portable navigation device) in the brand name ‘Navman’. Navman’s Marine division which produces and sells sonar, Autopilots, sailing instruments was later sold to Navico, a Norwegian company in the same year.
Navman’s satellite navigation systems can be broadly classified into two categories:
1. In Car Navigation series
2. PDA satnav systems
In-Car Navigation systems
Navman iCN 550
Navman’s low-end in car navigation systems include models like iCN 320 and iCN 330. Later, Navman came with advanced models like iCN 520, iCN550 which have LCD touch screen and you need a stylus to operate them. iCN 550 featured numerous POI like nearest hotels, petrol filling stations, restaurants etc. Navman offered wider screen and louder audio features in the iCN 600 series and iCN 700 series. Both these series were introduced in 2005. In the following year, Navman introduced F series are quite compact and handy. Among the F series, F30, F40 and F50 came with sophisticated features like Bluetooth compatibility and real time traffic alerts.

Another new series of in car navigation systems (N series) was introduced in the same year. Some of the N series include N40i and N60i.
PDA satnav systems
Navman’s PiN series pocket PCs are enabled with GPS features. Its PiN 570 offers both business information and GPS navigational assistance for the users. The 3.5 inch touch screen offers 2D as well as 3D views of the route to the users with all necessary visual directions that can guide the users to reach the chosen destination.
Navman’s PiN series also have additional features like MP3 player, games and optional POI storage utility.
NavPix technology
In 2006, a new feature called NavPix was incorporated in selected models like iCN 700, iCN 720 and iCN 750 in car navigation systems. The NavPix feature enabled these GPS units to determine the location with greater preciseness as the image was taken using sophisticated MegaPixel cameras.
Later in 2006, some of N series GPS units like N40i and N60i were introduced with in-built digital cameras to take NavPix images which provide geographical information of a place like latitude and longitude.
