There is a terrain page that comes with a slide profile view, which warns the user about the nearby terrain or obstacle. Airport information are also loaded into it, with details of runways and frequencies. Besides, users can have a comprehensive view of the nearest airport using airport screen. XM Satellite Datalink is another asset with this Garmin sat nav, and this provides information on weather. Other advanced aviation features included in Garmin Aera 550 includes SafeTaxi airport diagram and AOPA Airport directory and fast 5Hz update rate.
On the automotive side, Garmin Aera 550 delivers turn-by-turn navigation instructions, with spoken street names. Millions of points-of-interest are loaded into it, that takes the user to leisure places such as hotels or theatres. Advanced lane assistance feature included in it shows the user the correct lane. There is also a function called junction view in order to give a 3D view of interchanges. Besides, the maps could be viewed either in 2D or 3D perspective as per the user’s convenience.
Garmin Aera 550 score well even in entertainment functionality. It has a media player that supports usual file formats for music play back.
