Garmin Nuvi 1390T In-Car Satellite Navigator is an ultra-slim device that comes with some great exceptional features. It measures 12.2 x 7.5 x 1.6 cm and weighs 161.6 grams. It is very similar to the Garmin Nuvi 1370T except for a few features. Like the others in the Garmin 1300 series, this one also includes a wide 4.3-inch touch screen display for viewing navigational data. This screen comes with a 480×272 pixels resolution. The internal antenna is integrated with a highly sensitive GPS receiver. It has an internal solid state memory that can be expanded using microSD memory cards.
Garmin Nuvi 1390T Satellite Navigator comes with a basemap and preloaded maps along with many points of interests. The device also offers you the facility of adding your own personalised POIs. The route guidance includes not just displaying the apt route on the screen but also time-to-time voice instructions. The screen zooms at junction levels and and provides appropriate lane assistance on highways or on a multiple lane junction. Along with offering you a choice of selecting the type of desired route, the device also has an ability to re-route you in case of deviation. It also comes with TMC compatibility that provides real-time traffic updates advising you about the road accidents or congestions regularly. Its speed limit indicator alerts you when you exceed the prescribed speed of a region.
The Garmin Nuvi 1390T Ultra-Slim Satellite Navigator includes world clock, a currency and unit converter and an anti-theft feature. It also includes Bluetooth compatibility for hands free calling using compatible devices. An exclusive “Where Am I?” option tells you about the nearest hospitals or police and petrol stations or the nearest address or location. This widget is accompanied by a set of accessories, which include a FM traffic receiver, a vehicle suction cup, a dashboard disc, and an instruction manual.

I have bought, owned, and used 7 different Garmin units of various sizes including the 330 series that kind of evolved into the Nuvi, Rino, and others. I wanted to try out the new City Xplorer feature in this 1390T -> and the summary is City Xplorer JUST DOES NOT WORK! First of all you must buy a $10 extra package per city, fine. But when I enter a route it just spins the hour glass saying “Route Options” forever. I waited 15 minutes, then just shut the unit off. The newest iPhone (or iPod Touch with Wi-Fi) Google Pedestrian Maps completely works for approximately the same amount of money and a unit that is half the thickness, better touch screen, and this piece of junk simply does not work. I can’t get any route further than 5 blocks to “finish calculating route”, and the 5 blocks is where it just says “walk north 5 blocks”. Shame on you Garmin! You used to make good products, what happened, all the smart quality engineers left?
