Holux has just announced the all new hand held GPS receiver at CompuTex 2010. Naming it GPSport 260, the new baby looks quite fashionable compared to the former model GPSport 245.
The Holex GPSport possessing about 1.5 inch screen can act as a GPS data logger that can stock upto 160K waypoints. The screen can show user real time statistics about their current activity which can be stored and viewed in the track view or plot.
You can also find Follow Course feature in the device that gives the user the convenience to plan their trip before stepping on the road. As an added bonanza, the reverse route ie the route back to your tent can also be planned.
Of many, one feature that makes Holux GPSport 260 definitely sparkling is its ability to create QR code image for co ordinates that help us share waypoints in a completely different way. Mobile phones with built in digital camera will be able to read this code and decode location to find them on Google map using a internet connection.
Some of the other features include pedometer, 3D compass, barometric altimeter, 1050mAh rechargeable, a very low power consumption that can last for about 20 hours or more depending upon the usage. Even when there is no satellite signals detected, the 3D compass can direct the user on their way. The GPS and barometer altimeter detects the altitudes when traveling up and down the hillside.
The device plays a significant role to the environment showing the user the amount of CO2 emissions reduced and calories consumed when consumers cycle, hike or walk instead of driving.
