The lorry that sideswiped a house near Bungay on Monday, was misdirected by an incompetent sat nav, according to the latest reports. The house as per reports belonged to a couple who are retired teachers in their sixties, Martin and Margaret Canter. The accident happened at around 8.30 am at their home on Ditchingham Dam. A damage of around a couple of pounds was said to have caused in the crash, though no injury has been reported.
The couple revealed that drivers usually get confused at the narrowing part of the two way Ditchingham Dam that is in Norfolk, where it virtually becomes a one way route called Bridge street in Suffolk. Martin Canter meanwhile, complained that even the most advanced satellite navigation systems said that there was a through road there that has over the times led hundreds of vehicles turn daily around there. He added that though, small vehicles did not pose much of a problem, heavy vehicles akin to lorries were real problems.
The couple had only recently remodelled their house and in the current circumstances, would be forced to spend a decent amount more to do the repair works. Peeved by the happenings, the couple now calls on the drivers to look out for the roadside signs, throwing off their satellite navigation devices. Martin Canter added that people are mesmerised by the promotional material and enticing offers issued by the sat nav companies, such as live traffic information, etc, as in real the drivers end up laughing stock.
