Magellan has added yet another satnav unit to its RoadMate series of GPS systems. It sports a large 7-inch touch screen display that provides the user with a clear view of the maps and routing details. This large display makes it an ideal unit to be used in large vehicles. It features Magellan’s One Touch user interface providing instant access to the user’s favourite addresses and searches. All this is done without compromising on the road safety. The unit is said to comes preloaded with the Navteq maps of the 50 states of US, Puerto Rico and Canada and around 6 million points of interests. These many POIs make it easier to locate the nearest restaurants, ATMs, airports, etc.
With the Magellan RoadMate 1700 In-Car Satellite Navigator, the user gets to benefit from lane guidance feature on highways and complex intersections. This function gets one on the right lane. Along with accurate on-screen routing information, the device also speaks out the names of the streets and roads enabling users to drive safely by concentrating on the road better. Routes can be computed with multiple stopovers. The device is integrated with the AAA TourBook guide that provides a list of the AAA approved places to stay and dine. One can locate destinations and addresses using the QuickSpell and SmartCity search facility. The major interfaces include a microSD card slot and a USB socket. A video-in jack is also provided so that any compatible video source or iPod can be hooked up to the unit for entertainment purposes. The cable is however not supplied with the unit.
This Magellan RoadMate 1700 Hand-Held Satellite Navigator includes a windshield mount, a cradle, a cigarette lighter adapter, a USB cable, an adhesive disk, a protective pouch and an instruction manual.
