Satellite navigation market has failed to provide the deserving recognition to Motorola’s Motonav series of satellite navigation devices. Motonav sat navs showcase an equal potential as that of the top brands in terms of features and performance. Perhaps, it is the hype given to the Motorola mobile phones and the establishment of Motorola as a communication giant has left people unknown about Motorola’s accomplishment in navigation field. But, with this CES 2010 show, Motorola has decided to bring forth their Motonav sat navs. They showcased two new series; dubbed as, Motonav TN700 and Motonav TN500 at CES 2010.
Motorola Motonav TN500 is a user-friendly GPS navigation system that comes with voice commands and graphics. Motonav TN700 is comparatively bigger than TN500, and comes with features such as 3D landmarks, traffic alerts and more. Both these series employ Google search, which is definitely an impressive aspect. The dynamic multi-view displays of these satellite navigation devices keep location, routes, points-of-interest and contacts, all at a single touch.
Both Motonav TN700 and Motonav TN500 are compatible with any bluetooth-enabled mobile phones. This allows you to stay connected always. Voice-recognition enables you to search the phone book or address books via voice-prompted commands. Many extra features including fuel price, weather updates, flight status and traffic updates are available as well. But the catch in these extra-services is that they require paid subscription after the initial 90 days trial period. Moreover, you need to stay with your bluetooth active, and they use the data plan from your phone.
Regarding the technical specifications of TN500 and TN700; TN500 comes with 4.3 inches wide-screen display where as the TN700 employs 5.1 inches cinematic display. Both are ultra-slim at 14mm thickness and have a candybar design. Motonav TN700 measures 134.7mm X 70.2mm X 14.0mm and weighs around 174 grams. Motonav TN500 has a dimension of 114.2mm X 77.5mm X14.65mm and weighs 165 grams.
These new series are expected to be in the market during the first quarter of 2010, but the price stay veiled.
