sat-nav-stuck-in-narrow-lane MPs SatNav Plea After numerous cases of trucks and lorries being sent through unsuitable roads; the Wharfedale MP is now supporting the calls for changing the satellite navigation systems to include the height, width and length of the vehicle.

In fact, Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland signed an Early Day Motion last week calling Government regulation of sat nav companies to includes these details in their systems. He believes that by forcing the manufacturers to include these measurement details, the number of satnav accidents can be seriously reduced. He was reported saying that the Government has failed to regulate the flourishing sat nav industry in the past and these large vehicles and HGVs can cause havoc when sent down the narrow lane or unsuitable roads.

The problem is expected to be solved by ensuring that the GPS units take the measurement details into account before a route is computed.
