TomTom has launched the TomTom Pro 8000 and TomTom Pro 4000 satellite navigators which are the first two models in the professional series. The main differenciating factor between the professional and non-professional models lies in the software and the level of customer service. The Pro series come with an extended warranty of two years, a menu lock option, a ruggedised sleeve, one year of free map update, dedicated PRO customer service, and a PIN lock facility.
The TomTom Pro 8000 In-Car Satellite Navigator measures 3.3 x 4.7 x 1.0 inches and has a weight of 6.6 ounces. It comes with a touch screen display of 4.3-inches that comes with a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels. This sat nav has an internal flash memory of 4GB, as well as a slot for connecting SD/MMC memory cards. It runs on a rechargeable Lithium-polymer battery that comes with a battery life of up-to 5 hours. Its internal antenna is integrated with a high sensitivity GPS receiver. This sat nav also has an integrated microphone and an internal speaker.
The TomTom Pro 8000 Portable Satellite Navigator works with TomTom’s MapShare technology. With this technology you are sure to have the latest maps on your device. You can add additional points of interest to its preset ones. This GPS unit provides accurate route guidance and regular voice instructions. Its Text-To-Speech functionality announces the names of roads and junctions as and when they appear on screen. Its Advanced Lane Guidance feature tells you about the correct lane that is to be taken on a multi-lane path. With its enhanced positioning technology you are always informed about your location. This sat nav has an address input system wherein you can enter your destination by announcing the address. Additionally the Bluetooth technology allows you to make calls hands free. It also has an in-built FM transmitter that plays music over the car radio. Along with this Professional Satellite Navigator you get a windscreen mount, a car charger, a CD that contains TomTom Home software, a desk dock and a manual.
