Dangers of SatNav Systems

satellite navigation device 300x200 Dangers of SatNav SystemsAlthough SatNav Systems have become quite popular over the recent years, it is anybody’s guess as to how long they will continue to hold forte, since, with the advent of the latest SmartPhones which are embedded with the location based technology, separate SatNav systems may become a thing of the past in the not so distant future. That said, let us contemplate upon the safety of SatNav devices, tdoay’s point of contention. Well, research shows that 80% of the car accidents happen on account of drivers losing concentration while on the road. Out of 14 million drivers who use the SatNav devices, around 20% said that the devices made them quite hesitant, while driving on busy roads. And, one out of fifty admitted that SatNav devices had either caused or have nearly caused an accident while driving.

Researchers and Psychologists are trying to find out the safety aspects and also the potential dangers that the SatNav systems may cause in car navigation. They hope to do this by using volunteers who will carry out tasks given by a computer which will mimic instructions of SatNav devices, and then analyse as to how the drivers cope up and deal with the situation and how their overall response is. And, by the end of such experiments, if their memory is worsened or attention is diverted, all findings will be summarised and the government authorities and regulatory bodies will be notified of the end results, so that necessary steps and action is taken in order to cope up and prevent potential life hazards.
