Nokia’s free Ovi maps has found to be a massive success among the people. The company claims that they had a record download of 1.4 million in the first week of its launch. And, UK is one of the top five countries, which topped in downloading Ovi maps. The other four countries are Germany, China, Italy, and Spain.
Anssi Vanjoki, Executive Vice President of Nokia estimates the average download as one per second, in 24 hours a day. He said that the demand for location-based services are increasing fast, than the company had anticipated. However, the company knew that their free maps would become a game changer.
Reportedly, Free Ovi Maps has become a ‘game-changer’ by all means, proving to be a real threat to the global sat navs and smartphone market. A Dutch company, Nav4All was forced to stop its sale of free sat nav app, since Navteq, a Nokia subsidiary refusedĀ to extend its agreement.
