Due to the potential fire hazard, Garmin on Wednesday has announced the recall consisting about 1.3 million Garmin Nuvi GPS systems.
In U.S, Garmin has sold about 796,000 GPS units and when asked about this to Garmin, explains that certain batteries which was actually provided by an external company has made Nuvi models to overheat.
About 10 cases of overheating has been identified so far with no injury or damage to property. Garmin added that the battery supplier has agreed to share the cost of replacing the batteries and will not experience a loss in its financial results.
It is been stated to the owners that no attempt should be made to replace or service the battery. Any fault or damage on the device should be immediately taken to an authorized Garmin service center.
Because of this issue, the shares of Garmin fell a penny to £17.1070 in late morning trade.
