Google Maps Navigation to poke into more Android Devices

google maps navigation android1 61 Google Maps Navigation to poke into more Android DevicesGoogle has announced that the GPS Navigation software is now available on any handsets that run on Android 1.6 and higher. Earlier, it was only available for those mobile phones which run on Android 2.0 or higher. Hence, older mobile phones such as T-Mobile G1 and myTouch 3G got Google GPS Navigation.

Google Maps Navigation comes with most of the features available in traditional satellite navigation systems, including turn-by-turn voice guidance, re-routing, destination search, and many more. Moreover, its integration with other Google services makes it much even more flexible. It can overlay geographical instructions or Wikipedia articles or such data.

One of the most attractive feature of Google Maps Navigation is that its could be loaded on to the existing hardware, and thus, users can convert their android phone to a GPS navigation system for no cost. Thus, Google is slowly penetrating into the GPS arena on a more wilder way, which could pose a threat to the existing GPS makers.
