A new GPS application that locates water has been developed. This can prove beneficial to the individuals crossing borders. The new Transborder Immigrant Tool was developed by Ricardo Dominguez and Brett Stalbaum, professors at University of California, San Diego (UCSD).
This satellite navigation application once loaded into the mobile phone, exhibits a digital compass that locates water stations. The water stations that are too far from the phone, will not be located. It can also locate some safety sites such as Border Patrol Station, Clinic or Church.
This new development has raised an immigration issue of helping the illegal immigrants crossing borders through deserts. But it can save the lives of people, who traverse through the heat of deserts, be it legally or illegally.
