Magellan has launched a new car kit for iPhones. Similar to the Navigon and TomTom car kits, Magellan Car Kit features a GPS receiver for better reception of GPS signals. Even though, this car kit is designed to use with Magellan’s RoadMate app, it works well with any GPS navigation application. With this new announcement, it seems more satellite navigation system manufacturers are entering into the production of car kits, after the trials in GPS Navigation apps.
Despite of providing a secure vehicle mounting to iPhones, Magellan iPhone Car Kit features an adjustable mount to facilitate the rotation of iPhone to landscape or portrait mode. It has an amplified speaker with volume control, noise cancelling microphone, auxiliary audio output and bluetooth facility to attend calls hands-free. Furthermore, it enables to recharge the iPhone via the vehicle power outlet.
It has been priced at $130 and is available for pre-order online at Amazon, Best Buy and MagellanGPS.com.
