Navigon, the German PND manufacturer has announced a premium satellite navigator that comes with realistic 3D city views. Known as the Navigon 8410, its hardware and software features include a 5-inch touch screen monitor as well as an optional module for digital mobile television.
This new PND is reported to be extremely touch sensitive and reactive to the finger. Also Navigon has said to have improved their voice command system providing the facility to call up names from contacts as well as name special destinations. The Real City3D is expected to be available for 16 European cities that is provided by a renowned Japanese map data company, Zenrin Data.
The Navigon 8410 can be incorporated with a digital television module for DVB-T reception for an additional cost of €59.95. Additionally a media player has been incorporated along with the other commonly found features such as lane assistance, TMC, Bluetooth, etc. This Navigon 8410 sat nav is expected to cost €499.
It is believed that with this product, Navigon is trying to position the company as a high-end PND brand. Unfortunately, the current short term economic situation in Europe might prove to be a little unfavourable to Navigon.
