Now the technology that takes a person from A to B is reported to help surgeons in joint surgery. It is observed that doctors are using this satnav technology in a specially designed equipment in order to improve accuracy when fitting replacements. Surgeons have stated that this technology provides a higher accuracy rate for operations.
Termed as the OrthoPilot Navigation System, it is believed to have been perfected in more than 100,000 surgeries till date. It has been developed by orthopedic surgeons, and is supposedly an easy system to learn and use.
The KneeSuite OrthoPilot Software includes 3 modules: TKA (Total Knee Arthroplasty), ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) and HTO (High Tibial Osteotomy). An OrthoPilot software for hip navigation has also been developed that consists of the THA (Total Hip Arthroplasty) module.
