Sony Japan has recently introduced its NV-U3DV GPS unit that apparently offers a host of advanced features such as a 4GB internal memory and a 6.1-inch touch screen display. It includes large buttons and a refreshed user interface, gesture control, MP3 and MPEG4 player.
Reportedly, Sony has embedded a new Position+ G feature that uses an accelerometer, a pressure sensor and a gyro-sensor that assist the unit to detect the direction of the vehicle like underpass, tunnels and high inclines in order to orientate itself to match the situation. The other add-on features that have been incorporated in this unit include mobile TV in Japan, live traffic data, and various map guides from PetaMap.
This Sony NV-U3DV GPS navigational unit is expected to start shipping in August with a price tag of $685.
