TomTom Enters Argentina

car navigation in argentina TomTom Enters Argentina TomTom has revealed its plans to expand into Argentinian market. They plan to launch three products there; TomTom Go (premium series), TomTom XL (mid-range series) and TomTom ONE (entry-level sat nav). These are expected to hit the Argentinian market from August 2009.

The products are to be sold through various retailers across Argentina including Carrefour, Falabela, Fravega, Garbarino and Wal-Mart. Elias Kabeche, TomTom’s Area Director Latin America stated that with more than 9 million cars on the road, Argentina offers a good market potential. TomTom is expecting to achieve the same position as with the rest of the world.

It has been reported that the Argentina map data is going to be provided by Tele Atlas. Furthermore, TomTom has announced that along with the pre-installed Argentinian maps, the first set of customers are going to be rewarded with a full year of free map updates, thereby offering free version of the updated map release information in the first year. Also with the MapShare technology, TomTom and Tele Atlas expect to improve the map database for Argentina, however the work is still in progress.
