TomTom announced its latest connected PND; the XL 340S Live in US, yesterday. This device is said to feature pre-installed points of interests, local search facility by Google, TomTom’s live services including traffic, gas prices and weather.
This mid-range connected GPS device is relatively affordable, however the monthly subscription doesn’t seem to be budget friendly. The monthly subscription is reported to cost about $10 per month. The XL 340S Live is expected to carry a price tag of $300.
Garmin’s recent launch of a connected PND costs just $400 with two years of free subscription and a $60 per year fee thereafter. Both the GPS manufacturers Garmin and TomTom are reported to be using At&T for their SIM cards in US.
Will TomTom lower their monthly subscription charges, one will have to wait and see.
